Core – Coastal Oil Recovery

In case of an oil spill keeping the oil from making landfall is critical. At landfall the cost of an oil spill becomes as much as 100 times greater and despite extensive cleaning efforts the results in most cases are unsatisfactory.

What can local coastal communities do to keep the oil from beaching and how can they be integrated into authorities’ oil spill recovery plans? Oil combating is a complex environment of authorities, laws, liabilities, ambitions and costs. CORE is an attempt to engage the people with the highest motivation and to find a space for their actions.

CORE is about experimenting how local communities and athorities could interact in ways that yeild concrete improvements in the scale and responsiveness of combating action.

No seminars, just action.
