MONA

The main goal of the project “MONA – multisensory experience of living environment” is to multidisciplinarily examine and develop a social, stimulating and multisensory environment. The research and piloting objects are existing residential environments of seniors.

MIND is involved in the project through a lighting pilot that aims at assessing the importance of lighting and at developing ways of creating new architectural lighting installations to support multisensory experiences and well-being. The importance of lighting as a part of the built environment is significant and seniors can be regarded as lead users in developing environments that promote well-being, for users in all age groups.

The main financier of the project is Tekes – the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (Program: Built environment) and the project coordinator is Sotera institute of Aalto University (The Research Institute for Health Care Facilities) http://www.sotera.fi/page.php?id=1
